For Financial Controllers, Heads of Finance, VPs Finance, senior FP&A leaders and divisional Finance Directors who want to move on from being the “safe pair of hands” or the “dependable No.2”.
Become the obvious choice for the next CFO opportunity
CFO Readiness Builder is a guided program for senior Finance leaders who are already operating at a high level, but aren’t yet consistently seen as “the next CFO” by CEOs and boards.

Why being a "good, solid Finance leader" isn't enough to get you into the CFO seat
You can:
- Deliver accurate numbers on time
- Lead a solid finance team
- Be trusted and relied on internally
…and still be passed over when the CFO role opens up.
The gap usually isn’t technical. Everyone assumes you know what you’re doing when it comes to the numbers. It’s about:
- What you talk about most, and how you talk about it
- How clearly you’re positioned as a future CFO
- How you show up with other leaders in the business, the CEO, board and investors
- Who actually sees you as “the obvious next CFO”
The CFO Readiness Builder program exists to close that gap.
And whilst the gap in your capabilities can feel small, the tangible difference can be huge. For instance, the difference in earnings between the CFO and their “solid number 2” can be between £25k and £100k per year, depending on the size of business.
You can enrol in the latest, updated, version of CFO Readiness Builder from 14 and 18 April, 2026
Is CFO Readiness Builder for You?
This program is designed for Finance leaders who:
- Are already operating at senior level (Financial Controller, Head of Finance, VP Finance, senior FP&A leader, divisional FD)
- Are trusted inside the business, but not consistently seen as “CFO‑ready”
- Want to be on the shortlist when the next CFO opportunity appears, internally or in the market
- Are willing to do the hard work of changing the way they think, the way they relate to people, the way they speak and the way they show up, to move themselves on from being the “safe pair of hands” to convincing CFO material
It’s a fit whether you’re in:
- A mid‑sized or larger private company
- A PE‑backed business
- A corporate / listed environment
Because the markers of CFO readiness are the same: your focus on value creation, how you think, communicate and lead, and how you’re perceived.
If that sounds like you, CFO Readiness Builder is built for you.
How we Build Your CFO Readiness
In this updated version of CFO Readiness Builder, we focus on six pillars that make the difference between a strong Finance leader and an obvious future CFO:
1. Enterprise Value Thinking
Refocus your work around value creation, not just reporting the numbers. Shift from “Are the numbers right?” to “How do we grow and protect enterprise value?”
2. Cross-Functional Credibility
Change how you’re perceived outside Finance. Move from being the person who always says “no” to the partner who understands other functions’ priorities and helps them drive value.
3. Decision‑Enablement in a World of Uncertainty
Become a decision‑enabler, not a brake. Help the leadership team move forward with clarity, even when the data isn't perfect.
4. Powerful Communication
Upgrade your presentations and contributions so they drive action. Learn to deliver clear, concise messages that senior stakeholders remember and act on.
5. Talent and Team Leadership
Build your Finance team into a value‑creation engine, rather than being the single point of capability everyone relies on.
6. Executive Presence and Self‑Advocacy
Develop the calm authority and self‑advocacy needed at C‑suite level, so you belong in the room and are comfortable being seen.
Whatever the job specs say about technical proficiency, it’s these six areas that make you stick in people’s minds as someone who belongs in the C‑suite.
How the program works
Over 6-7 months, you’ll get:
Monthly live workshops (recorded)
Each month we meet on Zoom for a live group workshop focused on one of the six pillars, with practical examples, discussion and concrete actions to take in your current role. All sessions are recorded so you can catch up if you can’t attend live.
On‑demand core training & worksheets
You’ll have access to the original CFO Readiness Builder curriculum (from the 2022+ cohorts), so you can work through the structured training and worksheets at your own pace alongside the new live content.
CFO readiness community space
You’ll join a private community space where you can ask questions, share experiences and learn from other senior Finance leaders on the same path.
Monthly office hours (Q&A)
Each month there will also be a more informal live Q&A session where you can bring your questions, get direct input from the program leader, or simply listen in as others get coached. These sessions are also recorded for you to watch later.
And that’s not all!
Bonus for all participants: online course bundle “Drive!” + “Driving Business Performance Further in Finance” (valued at $594)
Managing performance better should lead to better performance. If it doesn’t, there’s no point in managing it.
Knowing how to manage performance is one of the key skills that builds your business acumen as a Finance professional and supports several of the CFO readiness pillars.
As part of this cohort of CFO Readiness Builder, you’ll also get:
Drive! – Business Performance Management for Finance
This course walks through the business performance management framework I developed several years ago, and shows you how to use it in Finance to help your business manage performance better… and therefore perform better.
This is an online course we usually sell for $497 on the website.
Driving Business Performance Further in Finance
You’ll also get this mini-course: a series of four webinar recordings covering:
- Performance measurement
- Reporting and analysis
- Keeping business change on track
- Rethinking Finance transformation
Together, these two courses are normally sold for a combined value of $594, and they’re included for all participants in this cohort of CFO Readiness Builder.
